Chief Operating Officer
As Managing Director, Chief Operating Officer, Barbara Rea is responsible for building and developing the infrastructure of the Marketing, Investor Relations and Operations Groups at bkm Capital Partners. She has been in the marketing field for almost 20 years with the last 15 years focused in the real estate industry at Voit Real Estate Services, The Irvine Company and Centex/Pulte.
Rea comes to BKM from Voit Real Estate Services where she was Executive Director of Corporate Resources. During her 5 year tenure at Voit, she was responsible for the operational leadership of marketing, branding, advertising, public relations, market research, training/professional development and human resources for the privately-held $50 million, 250 people firm.
During her career with Voit, Rea spearheaded the re-branding efforts that repositioned the firm as a full service Western United States commercial real estate company that was previously thought of as an Orange County brokerage office. Re-positioning occurred through extensive PR and event driven marketing and securing industry speaking engagements for leaders at the firm. She established new communication vehicles for the growing firm, such as the creation of company Intranet, a modern website, and social media channels as well the creation of all company materials. She also created a library of resources for all brokers and marketing assistants for all outreach efforts including pitch presentations, brochure and email templates.
While there she was an integral part of the management of the company, focused on opening offices in new markets with key brokerage professionals that would help build the brand and add to the entrepreneurial culture.
Prior to her role at Voit, Rea was the Southwest Regional Marketing Director for Pulte Homes where she developed and managed a $20 million advertising and marketing budget for the nation’s number one homebuilder.
Rea also was Director of Marketing at The Irvine Company where she developed and executed a multi-million dollar strategic marketing plan for 8+ million square feet of retail properties for the leasing of centers like Fashion Island, Irvine Spectrum Center, The Market Place and Crystal Cove Promenade. She launched the retail properties group’s first ever broker incentive program to create a loyalty program for repeat leases within the Irvine Company portfolio. She was also responsible for the promotional marketing fees for the 1.6 million square foot Irvine/Tustin Market Place.
Rea graduated cum laude with a Marketing Communications degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA and holds a Marketing Certificate from University of California, Irvine as well as her Certified Marketing Director and Certified Retail Property Executive designations through ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centers). She is also a former Board Director for the Inland Empire Sales & Marketing Council and recipient of Real Estate Forum’s Women of Influence.
